Delegate suggests vote that 'includes everyone'
While the governor and certain senators are moving toward a legal fight in the U.S. Supreme Court to defend Guam's natives-only plebiscite law, Del. Michael San Nicolas is taking a different stance.
A political status vote should be inclusive of every Guam voter, San Nicolas said.
He said: "Inafa'maolek, though a CHamoru term, is not a CHamoru-only concept. Guam would be best served including everyone in a political self-determination process, as including everyone in the future of our island, political or otherwise, is inseparable in a democracy. We will not build a strong future for our island for everyone if it is predicated on excluding anyone."
