House overrides veto of defense spending bill

The 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) vetoed by President Trump has secured an override vote in the House of Representatives, with a vote of 332 yea and 87 nay.

The 2021 NDAA now goes before the Senate for an override vote tomorrow.

Covid relief passes House

With an overwhelming 359-53 vote H.R. 133 covid relief provisions move to the Senate.

"This overwhelming vote is a clear signal that enactment is imminent," opened Congressman San Nicolas. "Unemployment extended to March, stimulus at $600, a second round of PPP, $75 million in rental assistance, and more is likely to make it's way to Guam and our people with a Christmas kickoff," Congressman San Nicolas continued.

House passes NDAA 335 yea 78 nay

"The veto-proof passage of the current NDAA, containing our language for H-2b relief for our civilian construction industry, is a powerful first step," opened Congressman San Nicolas. After securing language in H.R. 6395 the Mac Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to extend H-2b labor authorization on Guam to civilian projects, the final language of the NDAA agreed between the House and the Senate keeps the provision intact.

In 2018 the largest number of new Members of Congress were elected since the 1970's, with 111 newly elected taking the oath of office. Out of 111 Freshmen elected to the 116th Congress, Congressman San Nicolas is among only 15 Members who passed a Bill onto law so far this term.

Specifically Congressman San Nicolas's milestone was achieve passing H.R. 1365, which enabled federal War Claims payments to be made to eligible claimants.

Within 24 hours after the Administration initially announcing an end to negotiations, they re-initiated with lowered price targets to counter the legislation recently passed by the House known as "Heroes 2.0."

Of note is the important point that the new offer from the Administration excluded Territories, and the House rejected the notion of leaving Territories out of any new relief package.
